What is Point S Budget Protect?

Point S Budget Protect covers your tyres up to R6 000* in the event tyre damage or loss that cannot be repaired.

Which vehicles are covered?

Vehicles using Passenger, Light Delivery (LDV), Sport Utility (SUV), and 4×4 tyres. Vehicles using Light Truck and truck tyres are limited to a overall weight capasity of 8 tons(Gross Vehicle Mass).

How long is the cover valid for?

Point S Budget Protect Cover is valid for 10 000kms or 12 month – whichever comes first.

Are 4x4 tyres covered?

Tyres are covered for normal road use (tar or gravel). Exclusions include speed testing, reliability trials, hired vehicles, or partisipation in extreme off-road competitive racing.

When can Budget Protect be used?

When a tyre cannot be repaired due to road hazards like potholes, rocks, curbs, nails or broken glass.

What tyre damage is excluded from cover?

  • Tyres with less than 3mm tread.
  • Tyres fitted to vehicles with gross vehicle mass above 8 tons.
  • Tyre failure due to manufacturing defects.
  • Temporary spare tyres are not covered.
  • Tyres used outside of normal applications like racing or extreme 4×4.
  • Consequential losses resulting from damage to the vehicle. (vehicle accident).
  • Vandalism related damage.
  • Damage through mechanical defects, like miss-alignment and worn shocks.
  • Flat spots from harsh braking.

Any other conditions?

  • The customer must ensure tha tyres are rotated, balanced and aligned on regular intervals, between 7 500 and 10 000 kms.
  • The tyres must be the correct load and speed index for the vehicle.
  • Tyre pressures must be maintained regularly.
  • Customers must be in possession of, and present the Budget Protect booklet when claiming. No claim will be valid without the booklet.

Within South Africa’s borders.

Where can I claim my cover?

Budget Protect cover can be claimed at ANY Point S store in South Africa.

Must I buy tyres to purchase Budget Protect?

No, customers can come in for alignment or shocks and purchase a Budget protect voucher.

Which tyres does Budget Protect cover?

Budget Protect is registered on the vehicle registration and covers all the tyres on that specific vehicle. Even if the only 1 new tyre was fitted, all four tyres is covered.

Can Budget Protect be transferred if the vehicle is sold?

If the vehicle is sold and the voucher is still valid, the new owner of the car can utilise the voucher if there is unrepairable tyre damage. Budget Protect is issued on the vehicle registration number and remains valid for that vehicle. If the owner who sold the vehicle purchases a new vehicle, it will require purchasing a new Budget Protect and cannot transfer the current Budget Protect to the new vehicle.

Can I buy more than one Budget Protect for the same vehicle?

No. There can only be one valid Budget Protect per vehicle. Once the voucher is used or has expired, the customer can immediately purchase a new Budget Protect and continue to enjoy the benefits. Budget Protect expires after time, milage or activation, and can be re-activated again, this is why it only covers one incedent only.

What other benefits do I get with Budget Protect?

  • 24/7 Roadside Assistance
  • Flat Battery. – The Call Centre will arrange to have the vehicle jump started. If the Call Centre cannot resolve the problem at the scene, the vehicle will be towed by an appointed Service Provider to the nearest most appropriate place of repair or safety. This service will be arranged up to a 40km roundtrip (from starting point to the point of dispatch).
  • Keys locked in the vehicle – The Call Centre will arrange to open the vehicle and retrieve the car keys. If the problem can’t be resolved at the scene, additional costs of towing or repairs are not included as part of the services and are for the client’s account. This service will be arranged up to a 40km roundtrip.
  • Flat Tyre – The Call Centre will arrange to have the tyre changed using the client’s spare tyre. In the event that there is no spare tyre, the Call Centre will arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the nearest approved repairer or fitment centre at the client cost.
  • Run out of fuel – The Call Centre will arrange for fuel to be delivered to the member. The Call Centre will supply up to 10 litres of fuel for the member’s account. This service will be arranged up to a 40km roundtrip (from starting point to the point of dispatch) and is limited to 2 incidents per annum. Additional fuel can be arranged at the member’s cost.
  • Winching/Extracting Assistance – Assistance will be provided for extracting the vehicle when accidentally stuck in a ditch or other inaccessible areas, when such location is within 50 metres of a paved road or highway. This service does not include extraction when driving a vehicle off-road or on unpaved highways. Service Provider rates are charged per hour.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Breakdown – The Call Centre will manage towing of the vehicle to the nearest franchised dealer (if under warranty) or to the nearest repairer. These services are offered whether your vehicle breaks down at home or on the road and all towing costs will be for the client’s account.
  • Storage – The Call Centre will arrange for the safe storage of the vehicle overnight, public holidays or weekends where necessary. On the next working day, the vehicle will be relocated to the nearest approved dealer or repairer. All costs associated will be for the client’s account.
  • Transmission of Urgent Messages – The Call Centre will relay messages of delay or changed arrangements to a nominated family member, employee, or business colleague at the member’s request.
    Roadside assistance services are only available if the breakdown occurs in South Africa, Lesotho, or Swaziland. Only the following vehicles are supported: PVT, LDV, HCV vehicles, Motorcycles, and Bicycles.
